Learning to Feel Comfortable in Your Body
Most of my life, I’ve been figuring out how to actually feel okay in my body. A lot of the stuff that messed with my confidence came from people around me—family, friends, classmates—through little comments that weren’t meant to hurt. They were so casual that no one realized how much they stuck with me. But over time, those small things made me more self-conscious and made me hold back, whether in class or from trying new things.
At one point, I tried different diets to lose weight. I did see results, and people started complimenting me, which felt good at first. But I went way too strict, pushed myself too hard, and ended up feeling tired and worn out. Slowly, I realized that wasn’t the answer. Everyone’s body is different, and there’s no one “right” size or shape we’re supposed to be.
After that, I started changing my approach. The healthy recipes on this website showed me I don’t have to give up foods I love—I can still enjoy all kinds of meals with just small tweaks to make them healthier. I also got to understand the science behind food, like why certain ingredients work better together and how foods actually fuel my body. Learning this made me feel more confident in my choices and more in control.
I’m still figuring things out, but I finally get that my worth isn’t about my weight and being healthy isn’t supposed to feel like punishment. If you’ve ever felt held back by your body or like you’re “not enough,” you’re definitely not alone. Confidence comes from caring for yourself and taking up space—no apologies needed.
